Out and About

 

The site is set in the beautiful Tamer Valley on the Cornwall/Devon boarder and is ideal base to visit both Counties.

 

It is close to Dartmoor National Park and Morwellham Quay which is a living Museum of Victorian Life.

 

For golf lovers St Mellion Golf course is a 10 mins drive away.

 

There are a number of National Trust and English Heritage properties to visit & enjoy including nearby Cothele House and Launceston Castle. 

 

Within 40 - 50 mins drive you can visit either the North or South Coast of Cornwall.

 

North Coast the nearset sandy beaches are at Bude and Widemouth, but places to visit further afield are Boscastle, Tintagel and Port Issac  ( Dr Martin is filmed here).

 

On the South Coast the nearest sandy beaches are at Seaton, Millendreath and the Fishing Port of Looe. Places further afield are Polperro. Charlestone  with its  double harbour, where there are at times tall ships (Scenes from Poldarak filmed here), there is also a Shipwreck and Heritage Centre. The world famous Eden Project Nr St Austell.

 

The Historic Navel town of Plymouth with its shops,restaurants and Aquarium is worth a visit.
